The Story
In The Blue Hour, Paula Hawkins introduces Rob, a writer seeking solitude after the sudden loss of his wife. Hoping the peace will help him heal and focus, he escapes to an isolated coastal village overlooking the sea.
But the villagers are wary of outsiders, and something about the place feels wrong. The landscape is beautiful yet ominous, and Rob senses that beneath the stillness lies a story no one is willing to speak aloud.
When he begins researching the area’s local history, he discovers a disturbing pattern of disappearances and tragedies connected to the very house he now inhabits. As strange events escalate and Rob’s grip on reality begins to blur, he realises that the answers he’s chasing may be more dangerous than the grief he’s running from.
Hawkins blends psychological tension with haunting atmosphere, creating a taut, unsettling tale of isolation, obsession, and the things we hide — even from ourselves.
